KPLC GPRS-based Wireless AMR System
The project covered the supply, test before shipment, packaging for export, insurance, shipment, delivery to the port of Kenya, landing, installation, testing on completion and commissioning of AMR Hardware and Software. Other service included Training and back up support.
The AMR Meters are installed for existing Kenya Power & Lighting Ltd. Large Power customers, which is over 4,500 for Stage I project. These customers are situated all over the Republic of Kenya and represent approximately 65 % of KPLC revenue.
The main task of the AMR System is to reduce the non- technical losses through registering and flaging meter tamper, reduce operating costs and improve customer service delivery and systems planning and billing information. The AMR system is operated by Kenya Power & Lighting Company after commissioning.
